About scr.im
What: scr.im turns an email address into a short link. Anyone who follows the link sees the address only after their browser has done a little work to prove it is not an email-harvesting robot. It has been running since March 2009.
Who: owned by Basem (@Basem_A). The original code and design are by Ozh (@ozh) and Ariane Regourd.
With:
- Python, FastAPI and PostgreSQL — rebuilt in 2026 from the original PHP and MySQL, with every link from the old database still working.
- Cap for the humanity check, self-hosted, so nothing about your visit is sent to anybody else.
- The cute little red
featurebug in the logo is a creation of artist Tinneketin, aka Martine Lemmens, used with kind permission.
